Pinterest Project Tuesdays – Date Night in a Bag

My project this week is actually something that I started a few months ago. When I first saw this pin awhile ago, I knew it was something that I wanted to do. We have done Date Night in a Bag a few times and it has been a blast!!

This pin takes you to one of my favorite websites, The Dating Divas. It is a great blog with lots of ideas to strengthen your marriage/relationship. Majority of their ideas come with the printables so that you can make planning even easier! They offer a large amount of date night ideas too!!

Here is what I did for my first Date Night in a Bag! Which was Italian Date Night!

What you will need:

  • Gift Bag
  • Printables from The Dating Divas
  • Mini Boboli Pizza Crusts
  • Pizza Sauce
  • 2 Mini Popcorn Bags
  • 2 Mini Pops
  • Ice Cream Scoop
  • Hot Fudge
  • Cherries
  • Italian Movie (I used the Italian Job)
  • Candy
  • Ice Cream (Not in the bag)
  • Cheese (Not in the bag)

First thing that I did was tape the printable about Date Night on the bag. Then I put everything in the bag!

Then I had Brent open the bag to see what we were going to do for Date Night that week.

We first made our Pizzas! We each had personal mini pizza.

Then we watched the Italian Job while munching on popcorn and candy. Final we had dessert, Hot Fudge Sundaes!

Date Night in a Bag is a great way to do date night while spending very little money. You can do a date at home or you can plan a unique date! It’s all up to you. I love the surprise of it each time too, you don’t know what the date will be until you start opening the bag!

Here is another example of a Date Night in a Bag that I did. It is the Bookstore Date! I had a gift card for our dinner, a gift card for dessert, then we went to the Bookstore (Barnes and Noble) with a sheet of challenges and then we came home and watched a movie based off a book (The Notebook).

Every couple needs Date Night and now you have no excuse!! Go plan your next date!

Until next time!

Tale as Old as Time

Last night, Brent and I went on a Double Date with our friends Matt and Rebekah to see Beauty and the Beast: The Musical! As a Disney fan for sure, I was very excited about seeing this!

The play was just like the movie but with some added songs and dialect. My favorite parts were when they sang “Be Our Guest” and of course when they sang “Beauty and the Beast”. I also liked how they made the Beast funny at times and the actor that played Gaston was really good.

Even with little miss annoying Chatty Cathy behind us for most of the fist act, it was still a great night with great friends and great music!! I think we might go see Peter Pan next!!

Until next time!

Pinterest Project Tuesdays – Date Night Jar

Searching through all my pins I found the perfect project to do!! I had a bridal shower to go to on Saturday and I wanted to give a unique gift to this amazing couple! So the project I decided to do was a Date Night Jar but I added my own twists to it.

This is the pin that inspired my project!

The pin takes you to a cute blog about Jennifer Green and her family. Her jar is color coded by type of date and price. I just loved her idea but I decided not to color code or label the dates because I wanted the couple to make all the decisions about each week. SOOO here is my Date Night Jar I made!

Supplies (cost about $10-$15 depending on the size of jar you get):

1 – Glass Jar with an easy open lid

1 -2 packs of large Popsicle sticks

Ribbon of choice

Hot glue and gun

Letter stickers of choice

First step is planning out what dates you want to do. I made a list of all the date night ideas that I could come up with and by looking online. I had dates that ranged all different prices and planning time. I also had dates that were local to us here in Texas.

From there I started writing one date night idea on a Popsicle stick until I had enough to fill the jar leaving some room to pick out a stick.

After I finished with the sticks, I added the bow to the jar. Make sure you put the ribbon below the jar lid so that you have no issues opening and closing the jar.

I hot glued the back of the bow to the jar as well as the front.

Then add ‘Date Night Jar’ to the front in stickers. I had to hot glue some of these down as they did not stick very well to the jar but I think that all depends on the type of stickers you use.

After that you are done! It is a super easy project and who wouldn’t love to go on more dates with their spouse! The most common advice I got before we got married was to go on lots of dates and spend time together. This is a sure-fire way to do that.

NOW, this was a gift for a bridal shower so what I did to make this more fun and unique was I picked 4 of the dates from the jar and bought her the stuff to go with the dates!! How cute is that, right??

The 4 dates I picked were:

  • Bake Something Together Date
  • Game Night and Pizza Date
  • Ice Cream Sundae Date
  • Italian Date: Pasta and Movie

Here is what I got her for the Bake Something Together Date:

Cupcake Pan

Cupcake Liners

Cake Mix

Whisk (off her registry)

Here is what I got for the Game Night and Pizza Date

Pizza Pan

Pizza Cutter (off her registry)

Oven Mitt (off her registry)

Pizza Sauce

Italian Seasonings

Pizza Dough Recipe

Here is what I got for the Ice Cream Sundae Date

Ice Cream Bowls (2)

Ice Cream Scoop (off her registry)

Here is what I got for the Italian Night: Pasta and Movie

Kitchen Towel (off her registry)

Pasta Sauce

Spoon (off her registry)

Letters to Juliet (based in Italy)

I wrapped each gift in a separate bag and labeled them what the date was. I then put all the bags and the jar in a big box and wrapped the box. In the card I gave her I told her to take the jar out first so that I could then explain that each bag goes with one of the dates!!

It was a hit at the shower and the Bride loved it!! I even got kudos from the groom! I can’t wait until the next shower to do this all over again!!

I hope you give this a try and go on lots of memorable dates!!

Until next time!

IKEA Date Night

With us being so busy and buying a new house we really haven’t had time to do a date night. So a couple of weekends ago we were running some errands and what not and we stopped at IKEA to have a look around. I thought this would be a perfect spontaneous date!

It wasn’t anything too fancy! We walked around the store picking out decoration things that we would like to get for our house and generally just spent time together. We bought a couple of vases, a silverware tray and some steak knives and we found a couple of things that we are going to go back and get. After standing in line FOREVER (we forget it was back to school time and the store was packed with parents getting stuff for their college students), we finished the date off with a $1 ice cream cone!

I think the next time we go, I will have a real plan and do a Scavenger Hunt type of game!!

Until next time!

Can you feel the love tonight?

On top of the Rivertrip this past weekend, we also had tickets to see the musical The Lion King on Sunday. I have seen it twice but the husband has never seen it! It was everything I remembered and more. It is so neat to me how they do the costumes! I just love it! When buying the tickets I made sure that we had end seats in the middle of the floor because I knew that the actors come into the audience. I made sure that Brent had the end seat and I couldn’t wait to see his reaction! When the play started and people start heading down the rows dressed as animals, Brent’s face lite up! He was so cute! HA It was well worth it to sit next to a kid that would not stop grabbing my arm because she thought I was her mom! HA

Until next time!
