Goodbye 27, Hello 28

Birthday cupcakeHello 28,

Yesterday I went to bed 27, today I woke up 28! It’s crazy how SO many things have changed in a single year! This time last year, Brent and I were in Vegas having a GREAT time seeing Celine Dion at Caesars Palace, eating dinner at Paris and shopping at the Bellagio! It couldn’t have been a better birthday!

This year, I woke up to a baby stirring early this morning needing a diaper change and to be fed. I rolled out of bed after only a couple of hours of sleep, scooped up my little man and soaked up each and every minute of being 28 years old! I’m not sure if it could get any better than that.

Today as I took care of my little man and enjoyed the day, I felt a huge sense of happiness! 28 you have started off great so far and I can’t wait to see what else you bring!

Until next time!

Pinterest Project Tuesdays: Hospital Bag

This weeks Pinterest Project is not really a craft or project but more of a helpful post about what to bring to the hospital when you go in for labor. I am far from the first person to post about this but I thought I would write about what I brought and what I ended up really using.

When I first started trying to figure out what to pack, I had really no idea of what to bring or what I would need. I read a ton of blog posts and looked at a million different pins on pinterest. So I took everything that I read and made a list of stuff that I needed to pack to take to the hospital for myself and the baby.

Here is what I packed for myself:

IMG_2645I was able to pack everything into a carry-on bag. It was jammed packed but it all fit! I didn’t want to take a huge rolling suitcase to the hospital. No one wants to lug that around the place! HA

  1. photo 1-6Going Home Outfit – I brought a dress and a skirt with a t-shirt; I wanted options
  2. Nursing Tank x 2
  3. Nursing Bra x 3
  4. Make-up
  5. Bathroom Essentials – Toiletries, Thunder Pads, Blow-dryer, Straightener
  6. Yoga Pants x 2
  7. Long T-shirts x 3
  8. Long Tanks x 3
  9. Nurses Gifts, here is what I made
  10. Flip Flops/Slippers
  11. Socks
  12. Nursing Pajamas x 2
  13. Robe
  14. Underwear
  15. Disposable Nursing Pads and Nipple Cream

When I packed my bag, I thought I was bringing the bare minimum. Boy was I wrong, I didn’t need to bring a lot of what I brought. Here is what I would bring if I could do it all over again.

  1. Robe
  2. Flip Flops/Slippers
  3. Nurses Gifts
  4. Nursing Pajamas x 2
  5. Nursing Bra
  6. Underwear
  7. Going Home Outfit – Dress
  8. Disposable Nursing Pads and Nipple Cream
  9. Make-up
  10. Bathroom Essentials – Toiletries, Thunder Pads, Blow-dryer, Straightener

Now moving on to the bag for the baby!!

IMG_2658Here is what I brought for him:

  1. photo 2-6Teddy Bear – incase they take pictures
  2. Going Home Outfit – I brought two different options (1 newborn and 1 0-3 months)
  3. Pajamas
  4. Swaddle Blanket
  5. Hats
  6. Diapers
  7. Wipes
  8. Paci
  9. Disposable Bags
  10. Baby Powder
  11. Extra Blanket

I really used most of what I brought for the baby besides the diapers and wipes. I used what the hospital provided since they were free!

I had one other bag which was my Tech Bag but I forgot to take pictures of what I brought. Here is a list of everything I packed.

  1. Computer and Charger
  2. Mini iPad and Charger
  3. Baby Book
  4. DSLR Camera, Charger, Extra Battery and SIM card
  5. Digital Camera, Charger, Extra Batter and SIM Card
  6. iPhone Charger

I didn’t end up using anything from this bag except for the DSLR Camera and the one page from the Baby Book.

What I realized after is that the hospital really gives you a lot of the stuff that you need. I had a c-section and I couldn’t get out of the hospital gown for a day or two. When I was able to finally change, the last thing I wanted to do was put on yoga pants. Dresses are the way to go or the nursing pajamas.

I hope this list helps other mommies-to-be when they pack for the hospital. Obviously, everyone is different but this is what worked for me!

Until next time!
