A Ripple Christmas

We really had a wonderful Christmas this year with a lots of  firsts too! It was our first Christmas in our new house, it was the first time I have ever been pregnant during Christmas (nothing like being around lots of food that all smells bad! AHHH) , it was the first time we went to Austin to celebrate the holidays, and it was the first time Brent surprised me with my gift (I normally know what he gets me because he lets it slip!)

We started off in Austin the weekend before to celebrate Christmas with Brent’s dads side of the family. We had a great time! It was nice spending time with everyone. There was wonderful food and we did our White Elephant gift exchange! I got a Rock Torch (pictures to come soon) and Brent got a cookbook with an emergen blender. I have wanted one of those for a long time, so I was very excited about that!

Then on Christmas Eve, Brent and I went to church in the afternoon. It was so cute, it was the family service and the kid had a play about the birth of Jesus. It was sweet and it made me look forward to all the years to come with our little one. Then that evening we went to his Aunt’s house to celebrate with his mom’s side of the family.

On Christmas Day, Brent and I woke up to two crappy things. 1) Actual crap, one of our doggies got sick and 2) we had no power! Both sucked but we still made the best of it. Brent and I opened gifts with our doggies. Brent got a card to expand his GPS area for his boat, some shirts, The Dark Knight Rises, Ted and a Keurig K-cup Holder. He was very excited about his K-cup holder! HA I got Pitch Perfect (Aca-amaizing, if you havent seen it, you must watch it!), Apple Gift Card, and an iPad Mini!! I was very surprised!  I wasn’t expecting that and it was a wonderful surprise!

Later that day when our power finally came back on, Brent’s mom, step-dad, and sisters came over for Christmas dinner. We had a wonderful steak dinner and exchanged gifts. It was a wonderful Christmas and I can’t believe this will be the last year with just the two of us. Next year we will have a baby to spoil! I am already looking forward to out first Christmas as parents!!

Here are a few snap shots from our Christmas, we hope you had a wonderful Christmas as well!!

Pinterest Project Tuesdays – Matte Nails

I love the way Matte Nails look and so I couldn’t wait to give it a try. I pinned this awhile back and final got around to doing!

Here is the pin that inspired me for this weeks Pinterest Project!

IMG_5925

Now when you click on this pin it takes you nailstah.com and she tells you to get the Matte finish of the polish. However, when I went to the store OPI did not have any type of Matte finish. So I didn’t follow the pin exactly.

Here is what I did!

What you will need:

  • Nail Polish of choice (mine was OPI Don’t Mess With OPI)
  • Matte Top Coat (mine was Essie Matte About You)

IMG_0765

First step is to paint your nails with the base nail polish and let dry. You want to do at least 2 coats of polish.

IMG_5916

Then once the polish is dry you then will paint one layer of the Matte top coat. You will see the color changing from shiny to matte right away. You only want to do one coat of matte. Anymore is just a waste.

That’s it!! So easy, right? I just love the way the matte looks and it works with any color.

I hope you give it a try!

Until next time!

Show and Tell Monday: Christmas Talk

1) Tell us what your favorite thing about Christmas is.

What isn’t there to love about Christmas? It’s a time for family to get together to eat, laugh and make memories. I love all the Christmas traditions that everyone has. From driving to look at Christmas lights, to making certain food to share, to opening presents all together. I just love everything about Christmas! Many forget what Christmas really is about, me included, but it really is a time for family. It’s about spending time with the ones you love.

2) Tell us what your plans are for Christmas this year.

This year we will be going to Austin to spend time with Brent’s dads side of the family. We will do our annual White Elephant gift exchange and spend time together! Then on Christmas Eve we will be heading to Brent’s moms side of the family to spend time together with them! Unfortunately my family lives all the way in Michigan so we won’t be seeing them this year but they will be there is spirit!

3) Show us a picture of Christmas in the past. Or present.

4) Do you wrap your presents all in one box, or do you like wrap each present separately?

I like to wrap each present separately! I mean everything! That means there is more to open. I love opening and wrapping gifts. I do it while watching Christmas movies or listening to Christmas music. I find it therapeutic.

5) Tell us about any special traditions that you or you and your family like to do.

With Brent’s family we do an annual White Elephant gift exchange with his Dad’s side. With his Mom’s side we always open presents on Christmas Eve and go to Church. The last couple years we have also gone to Santa’s Wonderland in College Station, which I love! It’s thousands of Christmas lights and it is beautiful.

I haven’t been home for Christmas is a long time but we use to go to Bronner’s every year around Christmas time to get new ornaments which was my favorite thing to do and I can’t wait to take my baby! We would also go look at Christmas lights around the town and every year I got to open one gift on Christmas Eve.

I hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas season!!

Until next time!

Image-23Christmas is the best time of the year! The only thing missing is the snow!! Oh well maybe some cold weather too considering we did our lights outside on Saturday and I was wearing shorts and a tee… Most of my decorations are from Target and Hobby Lobby. My tree ornaments are from all over and I took a couple of pictures of some of our favorites this year.

Of course our doggies had to get into the Christmas spirit as well. Santa Bella and Elf Ali; they just love their costumes!! or I pretend they love their costumes… either way works for me!

It was hard to get pictures of the outside, it was either too bright or not bright enough. I did the best I could, still trying to learn this new camera.

I hope  everyone loves our decorations as much as we do!

Until next time!
